WordPress Permalink Problem

So you are a blogger and decided to install wordpress and set a new blog, but you have problems with permalinks.. Probably your problem is related to a .htaccess file.  If you are installing wordpress from a worpress download site, and you are using latest.zip or latest.tar.gz, you don’t have .htaccess file in package. That means that you have to create one if you don’t have one created by your hosting. First of all when you change permalnik to be http://www.domain.com/sample-post/ you will need to add code to your htaccess to active mod rewrite. Usually wordpres will do that for you automaticly if you have .htaccess file and permission to write to it. In other case, you need to add these lines manualy so you don’t get 404 error page.

# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ – [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule># END WordPress
This should do the magic.
